Quick answers
An invoice was read with the wrong numbers
Nothing is saved until you tap Save, and every field can be edited first. Autotab checks the line items against the invoice total and warns you when they don't add up — usually a missed row, or one page of a longer invoice. For a multi-page invoice, scan all the pages in one go, or choose the PDF. If an invoice is in a different currency from your car, Autotab offers to convert it at today's rate.
Can I scan a PDF instead of taking a photo?
Yes. When scanning an invoice choose "Choose a PDF or file", and when adding a document choose "Attach a PDF or file". A document keeps every page and opens full screen when you tap it; the first four pages of a file are read as pictures, along with any text the PDF carries.
My OBD adapter connects but shows no data
Turn the ignition on — with it off the car's systems are asleep, and the adapter pairs happily while returning nothing. If it still finds nothing, forget the adapter in iOS Settings ▸ Bluetooth, unplug it for ten seconds and scan again. Autotab uses Bluetooth LE adapters (ELM327-compatible). Classic-Bluetooth-only adapters, sold mostly for Android, can't pair with an iPhone.
Where are my trips?
With Gold and a Bluetooth LE OBD-II adapter, every drive with the adapter connected is saved as a trip, under Doctor ▸ Trips, and your latest one is on Home as Last drive. Open a trip and drag along the timeline, or on any chart, to see every reading at the same moment. Ask Autotab AI to read it, or share it as a PDF. The newest 200 trips are kept for each car; with iCloud sync on, your iPad and Mac can look through them too.
What are Sparks?
Sparks pay for Autotab AI, and every job shows its price before you tap. Most take one Spark (an invoice, a document, a warning light, a health check); a drive report or spec sheet takes two, and chatting with your car costs about 1 Spark per 3 questions. Silver includes 8 a month and Gold 18, or 100 and 210 for the year on a yearly plan. Packs of 10, 35 or 100 are there when you need more, and bought Sparks never expire.
How does Chat with your car work?
Open the Doctor tab and tap Chat with your car. Ask anything — whether it's ready for a long drive, what's due next, why it's using more fuel — and the answer comes from your car's own records: its maintenance plan, the services you logged, its fuel economy and, with an OBD-II adapter plugged in, what it's reporting right now. Pick the car doctor, a calm mechanic, or let your car answer in the first person. Your questions go to Autotab AI to be answered, and the conversation is saved only on your device.
What can I ask Siri?
On the iPhone and in CarPlay, try "Hey Siri, ask Autotab what's due next", "Ask Autotab how my car is doing" or "Ask Autotab what maintenance will cost in the next 6 months". Siri reads a short answer aloud, then asks if there's anything else, so you can follow up; say "that's all" when you're done. The conversation is saved in the app. In CarPlay, the Car doctor screen also has one-tap questions.
Why don't I see live data or fault codes?
Live engine data, fault codes, battery health and performance runs are part of Gold and need an OBD-II adapter plugged into the car. If a tool is missing from the Doctor tab, check Settings ▸ Features.
Where did the Money tab go?
Since Autotab 3.1 it's called Costs, with the same four pages: Fuel, All records, Total cost and Insights. Tap a slice of Total cost, or hold a category, to see the records behind it, and tap one to edit it. Settings is now a tap away from every tab, from the gear at the top.
How are Insights arranged now?
In Costs ▸ Insights, in four tabs: Overview, Fuel, Spending and Maintenance. Tap the Service discipline card to see each replacement it counted — on time, early or late — and open any visit to correct it. You can still hold a card to move or hide it.
Autotab says a record looks like a duplicate
A fill-up or service close in time to one already logged, with the same figures, is flagged before it's saved, so you can stop a double entry. Two real fill-ups on a long drive can look alike, so nothing is removed for you: Costs ▸ All records lists the pairs it found, and for each you choose Keep both, Delete first or Delete second.
How do I move to a new phone?
With iCloud sync on, sign in to the same Apple Account on the new phone and your cars appear. With it off, use Settings ▸ Back up everything, save the file to iCloud Drive, and restore it on the new device.
Is there a Mac version?
Yes. Autotab runs natively on Macs with macOS 26, from the same App Store listing. Your cars, plan and Sparks follow you through iCloud, and one subscription covers iPhone, iPad and Mac. In Arabic, the Mac app is laid out right to left, as on the iPhone.
Are there keyboard shortcuts on the Mac?
Yes. The Car menu has Log service (⇧⌘L), Add fuel (⇧⌘F), Add expense (⇧⌘E) and Scan invoice (⇧⌘I). The View menu switches section: ⌘1 Home, ⌘2 Maintenance, ⌘3 Costs, ⌘4 Garage, ⌘5 Doctor. ⌘, opens Settings, Esc closes a form (asking first if you've typed something), and ⌘R refreshes the trips list. Right-click a card on Home, Doctor or Insights to move or hide it, or a category in Total cost to see its records.
Is there a Windows version?
Yes. Autotab for Windows is free on the Microsoft Store. Move your garage over with an Autotab backup file, or turn on sync in the iPhone app (Autotab 2.0.3 or later) and your cars follow you through iCloud Drive, both ways. One subscription covers both.
My iPhone and iPad show different data
Both devices need to be signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive on, and sync switched on in Autotab's Settings. Changes can take a minute to arrive. Settings shows the sync status and offers a "Try sending again" button if something is stuck. A different theme or card order on one device can be on purpose: Settings ▸ iCloud & Windows sync ▸ Sync appearance and layout decides, on each device, whether its look follows your other devices.
How do I cancel or get a refund?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple: iOS Settings ▸ your name ▸ Subscriptions ▸ Autotab. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid renewal, and a free trial cancelled before it ends is never charged. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
I changed phones and lost my subscription
Open Settings ▸ Restore purchases (also on the upgrade screen) while signed in to the Apple Account you bought it with.
Is my data private?
Your records stay on your device and, if you choose, in your own private iCloud. What you ask Autotab AI about — a scan, a reading, a question in the chat — is sent to be answered, and we don't keep it. Anonymous usage statistics, under a random number and with nothing from your records, can be switched off in Settings ▸ Privacy ▸ Share anonymous usage statistics. The full details are in the privacy policy.
